Mr. Tannebaum exclusively represents clients in the defense of criminal law cases in state and federal court and in matters before The Florida Bar and The Florida Board of Bar Examiners. He is the Immediate Past President of the Miami Chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and currently serves as both Secretary of the Statewide Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a member of the Florida Bar Criminal Procedure Rules Committee
A former American Bar Association National Trial Champion, Mr. Tannebaum began his career as a trial lawyer in the largest public defender's office in the State of Florida, where he handled hundreds of criminal cases. After entering private practice, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where he received the 2000 and 2004 President's Award. He is a frequent lecturer, having spoken at statewide and local seminars such as "Showcase on Sentencing," "Practicing with Professionalism," and his own seminars entitled "The Practice," and "What Every Civil Lawyer Needs to Know About Criminal Law."
Mr. Tannebaum includes DUI in his criminal practice, and has served The Florida Bar as a member and Chair of the Traffic Court Rules Committee.
His professional license practice involves defending those who find themselves having to answer to The Florida Bar or Florida Board of Bar Examiners. Mr. Tannebaum was appointed to a 3 year term on a Florida Bar Grievance Committee where he learned the process by which the Bar reprimands, suspends, and disbars lawyers. His article "The Bar Grievance Process," was published in the statewide magazine, Florida Defender.
In addition to his practice, Mr. Tannebaum is a legal consultant to the CBS Drama "CSI: Miami." He was voted "Best of the Bar" by the South Florida Business Journal and named the top 1.6% of all Florida criminal defense attorneys by Florida Trend Magazine. He has also been named one of the "Top Lawyers in South Florida" by the South Florida Legal Guide, and a "Superlawyer" by SuperLawyers Magazine.
In 2003, The National Law Journal recognized his acquittal in US v. Dow as one of the "Top 10 defense verdicts in the United States." He has also appeared on Court TV, FOX's "The O-Reilly Factor, National Public Radio, and been quoted throughout the world on criminal cases and issues.
In addition to the Florida Bar, Mr. Tannebaum is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
